Independent website rebuild consultant

Most rebuilds fail before a line of code is written. I help organisations decide whether to rebuild, what to buy and who to buy it from, then make sure they get it.

I take no referral fees or commission from agencies.

Who this is for

You're planning a new website, or you've been told you need one. Before you spend the money, get an independent view.

You might need this if:

  • Your agency says you need a rebuild and you're not sure it's true
  • You've had quotes that range from £15,000 to £150,000 and can't compare them
  • The last rebuild ran late, cost more and didn't deliver what was promised
  • Nobody on your team has run a website project of this size before

What I do

Five steps, in the order they happen. You can stop after any of them, and most people don't need all five.

  1. Decide whether to rebuild

An honest audit. Sometimes the answer is to fix what you have.

  2. Write the brief

What the site must do for the business, in a form agencies can price against.

  3. Choose the agency

Longlist, pitch, scoring and contract terms.

  4. Oversee the build

I hold the agency to the brief, budget and timeline.

  5. Launch safely

Testing, redirects and migration checks, so you don't lose search traffic.

What it costs

Fixed prices wherever possible. Each option stands on its own.

Questions buyers ask

  • Will you tell me not to rebuild?

Yes, if that's the right answer.

  • Do you build websites?

No. I help you choose the agency that does, then hold them to it.

  • Do you take commission from agencies?

    No. Never.

  • How long does a rebuild take?

Anything from a couple of weeks.

  • Can you work with our existing agency?

Yes. Often that's the best outcome.

  • What does it cost?

From £1,500 for a rebuild decision review, £2,000 for the brief and agency selection and £3,000 for full rebuild oversight. All fixed prices, agreed in writing before work starts. The full list is on the pricing page.

  • We've already chosen an agency. Is it too late?

No. I can review the brief and the contract before you sign, or oversee the build once it's under way.

  • Do you work with charities as well as law firms?

Yes. The process is the same. The budget and the board are usually different, and I plan for that.

I take no referral fees or commission from agencies.
