Privacy policy
This policy explains what happens to your personal data when you use 1968ltd.com, get in touch, or download something from the site.
Who we are
This website is run by 1968 Limited, trading as 1968 Consulting, based in Amble, Northumberland. We are the data controller for the personal data described here, which means we decide why and how it is used.
1968 Limited is registered in England and Wales, company number 07242758, and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under reference ZB452298.
Our registered office is 44 Priory Park, Amble NE65 0HY.
You can reach us at info@1968ltd.com or on 07572 453 811.
What this policy covers
It covers this website only: the pages you read, the forms you fill in and the emails that follow. Client work is covered separately by the agreement we sign with you.
What we collect
What you send us. The enquiry forms ask for your name and email address, and depending on the form your phone number, company name, website and a message. The free guide asks only for an email address. Nothing on this site is a required field unless it is marked as one, and there is no account to create.
What you send us directly. If you email or call, we keep that correspondence so we can pick up where we left off.
What the server records. Like any website, ours sits on hosting that keeps standard access logs: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse.
We do not ask for anything sensitive, we do not buy data about you from anyone, and there is no login, no comment form and no user profile on this site.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To answer your enquiry and, if it goes that way, to quote for work. Our basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in running a consultancy.
- To send you the free guide you asked for. Our basis is your consent, given when you submit the form.
- To send occasional emails about what we do, if you have said yes to that. Our basis is your consent, and every email has an unsubscribe link. We do not add enquiry contacts to a mailing list without asking.
- To keep the site secure and working. Our basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the site from abuse.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations. Our basis is compliance with a legal obligation.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it, but only if you accept it in the cookie banner. Until you accept, no analytics scripts load and no analytics cookies are set. We use no advertising or social media trackers, and no fonts, images or embedded content are pulled from third-party servers.
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets cookies and processes usage data on our behalf, with your IP address anonymised. You can withdraw consent at any time from the cookie policy, which lists every cookie, what it does and how long it lasts. The only thing stored before you choose is a strictly necessary cookie that remembers your choice.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. It is handled by a small number of suppliers who work on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes:
- the company that hosts this website
- the service that delivers form submissions to us
- our email provider, and the platform we use to send the guide and any mailing list emails
We would also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where it is held
Our suppliers store data in the UK or the European Economic Area wherever possible. Where data reaches a country without a UK adequacy decision, we rely on the safeguards in that supplier’s contract, such as the International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data collected through this website for two years, then delete it. That covers enquiries, guide downloads and mailing list subscriptions. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data sooner, we do it sooner.
Two exceptions. Where a record has to be kept for tax, accounting or legal reasons, we keep it for as long as the law requires. Server logs are held by our hosting provider on their own schedule, usually a matter of weeks.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to someone else. You can object to processing we carry out under legitimate interests, and where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what came before.
Ask us by emailing info@1968ltd.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged to anyone on the mailing list.
