What does a digital experience consultant actually do?
When people ask what I do, “digital experience consultant” usually gets a polite nod and a follow-up question. So here is the longer answer.
I help businesses work out why their website is not pulling its weight, then we fix it. Most of the work is not a redesign or a rebuild. It is the less glamorous job of finding the specific parts that are quietly losing you money and putting them right.
A site can score well on PageSpeed, rank for the right keywords and still drip-leak conversions because the form has eleven fields when four would have done. Or the call to action is below the fold on mobile. Or the page that converts best sits two clicks from the homepage when it should be one. Small things you stop seeing once you have worked on a site for long enough.
That is most of what I do. Look at what you have stopped seeing.
What the work actually looks like
- Sit with your analytics. Where are people landing? Where are they dropping off? Which pages do well, which are dead weight?
- Watch real users navigate the site. Not what they say in surveys, what their cursor actually does.
- Read the content on every page that matters. Is it answering the question someone arrived with, or is it explaining something to your own team?
- Test the obvious things. Speed, mobile, the path from “interested” to “got in touch”, whether the contact form actually delivers.
- Write down what is wrong, in priority order, with the fix next to it.
I do not sell rebuilds. I sell honest opinions and a list of small jobs that, done together, move the numbers. Most clients save more on not rebuilding than they spend on the engagement.
If your site is busy but not converting, that is the conversation worth having. Get in touch.
Not sure where to start?
Most clients begin with a conversation. No pitch, no hard sell.
Just a straightforward discussion about where you are and whether I can help.
